Requirements Definition Services
The first phase of any DR project involves kicking it off, gaining team-buy in, bringing in the necessary technical knowledge base, outlining the process, documenting and assessing the current state of the organization, and finally defining end-state requirements. When most people think of requirements, they picture Recovery Time and Recovery Point Objectives (RTO/RPO). While defining RTO/RPO’s is critical, there are several other important factors that need to be taken into consideration at the outset of a project to reduce effort during the decision making and design processes later in the life cycle. At Double Gemini, we will work with you to define the following:
- RTO/RPO Requirements
- Strategic Requirements
- Functional Requirements
- Budget Requirements
System Design / Strategic Roadmap Services
In this phase, we turn project requirements into a system design and the design into a strategic roadmap. We take a 360 degree view of the process. While some firms will simply focus on networks, replication, servers and storage, we will include resources, business goals, and operations to craft a solution that will meet your long-term needs. Deliverables from our design and roadmap processes include:- Options Development (Network, Facility, Storage, Backup, Server (Physical & Virtual), Messaging, Document, Resource, Business, Operations)
- Scenario Design
- Solutions Decision & Final D.R. System Design
- Second Level Budgeting
Systems Implementation & Oversight Services
Our Systems Implementation and Oversight process involves bringing the technical foundations of the new or modified disaster recovery plan into service. We can help you at each stage of the process including: the sourcing and negotiation process, finalizing the design and budget, determining how best to implement any new or modified replication processes, and finally with the full turn-up of the DR site.- Vendor Sourcing & Negotiation
- Final Budgeting
- Rack Level Designs
- Replication Strategy & Implementation
Run-Book Development Services
Developing and testing a run-book is the most time-consuming and technically challenging aspect of the disaster recovery process. While Double Gemini has a uniquely defined process and templates to make this process efficient, this stage will require more time from your team than any other stage in the DR lifecycle.
We have a three phase approach to developing solid run-books. We begin by doing a pilot that involves a test recovery of one key system. This test will get everyone familiar with both the technology and identify any process issues prior to a full-system implementation. After we finish the pilot test, we work through the remainder of the process to generate tiered disaster recovery run-books. Each run book is validated through a detailed testing process. Our run-book development services include:
- System Testing (Pilot run with individual applications)
- Tiered Run-Book Development
- Run-Book Testing and Updates
Maintenance Process Definition & Testing Services
Having a run-book is a great start, but keeping it up to date is another issue all together. Double Gemini has a proven process and unique approach that will help you easily manage and keep your disaster recovery plans up to date. The deliverables of this stage of the process include:- Maintenance Plan Definition & Process Design
- Testing Scheduling
- Full-Systems Testing
